What a 1st grade student learns in Writing

Grade 1 writing centers on producing complete sentences and short structured pieces across opinion, informative, and narrative genres, while mastering foundational grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and phonetic/conventional spelling. Students move from emergent kindergarten writing to independent composition with adult guidance for revision and shared research.

The skills for the year
